Ohio high school students invited to Armed Forces Career Commitment Ceremony

The Ohio Department of Education, in partnership with schools and communities, will host an in-person celebration of Ohio's students committed to military service. The All-Ohio United States Armed Forces Career Commitment Celebration will recognize students in grades 11 and 12 who are committed to military service after graduation. Students with plans to attend a service academy, receive a Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship or enlist for active-duty service, the reserves or the National Guard are invited to attend the ceremony.

This year’s celebration will take place at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, 300 W. Broad Street, Columbus, on Tuesday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. for check-in and museum access. The program will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. Attendees must register here to join the All-Ohio United States Armed Forces Career Commitment Celebration.  Seating is limited, each student may bring only two guests. Students will register guests as part of their registration. Recruiters can attend as one of the guests of a student. Attendees can view the museum’s exhibits prior to and at the conclusion of the ceremony. Registration will close on Monday, Feb. 28, or earlier if seating is full. On-site parking is available for $6.00. Veterans and service members park for free with validation.

Ohio recognizes military service as a meaningful post-high school pathway for students who wish to enlist and celebrates students who commit to serve each year. Ohio's graduates can earn seals on their diplomas for meeting special requirements in specific areas. Military enlistment is among these 12 graduation seals. Ohio’s strategic plan for education is aligned to the one goal of student success post-graduation, which includes serving in a military branch.
