For Your Professional Development

ODE Third Grade Reading Guarantee District Resources
The Ohio Department of Education has posted additional guidance that addresses many of the questions they had been asked regarding the Third Grade Reading Guarantee, including student promotion guidelines and exceptions. The entire district resources page may be of help to you as you implement these new standards. You can find the information here on the Third Grade Reading Guarantee page.

ODE Principal Toolkit
Whether you are a beginning administrator or a seasoned veteran, ODE's helpful online toolkit provides resources that are useful throughout the year. Updated quarterly, you will find videos, graphics, print-outs and parent information sheets on several topics including Third Grade Reading Guarantee and Ohio's new report cards. Click here to visit the toolkit.

FIP Your School
Formative Instructional Practices (FIP) are the formal and informal ways teachers and students gather and respond to the evidence of learning. They are not yet another initiative to implement - they have been created to help implement all the new initiatives that have come down the pipeline. They consist of four core components:

  • Clear learning targets
  • Effective feedback
  • Collecting and documenting evidence
  • Student ownership

For more information on FIP, click here.

The Ohio Standard
Students are Ohio's future. The education we provide our children impacts how they grow and become prepared for success in college or on the job. Investing in our students' education supports every Ohioan's future. To improve that education, Ohio's students will be learning under new standards in mathematics, English, science, and social studies. Follow updates on Twitter at @TheOHStandard.
